Schnauzers and Their Health

The Miniature Schnauzer is a friendly, small dog that is loyal and good with children. The word ‘schnauze’ means muzzle in German and while they can be aggressive with other dogs, and bark often, they are lovable and enjoy putting on a show. Originally used for hunting rats, the beard of this dog is a defense mechanism against biting rodents.

The Standard Schnauzer is the mini’s big brother. These pups are very protective and can be stubborn, especially if they aren’t exercised or trained well. Like the mini, socialization is important. They are very smart, but because of this need to engage with people, or else they will be prone to destroying things.

Although they have few health problems, the mini is prone to pancreatitis, which can be very painful. The standard occasionally suffers from a genetic condition called Canine Hip Dysplasia.

These doggies would greatly benefit from having dog health insurance if they have these conditions. Early detection is important but treatment can be expensive. Pills, trips to the vet, and maybe even an operation, are all strenuous on the pocketbook. As a result, dog insurance can be very handy. If you want dog health insurance, visit www.PetAssure.com.
